Glory Border is a prowl ship operated past Celebrity Cruises. She is the atomic number 82 vessel of the Edge grade in the fleet, and at 130,818 GT, she is currently the largest ship in the armada by gross tonnage. She commenced operations in December 2018.[4]

In 2019, Kate McCue assumed control as captain of Glory Edge. McCue was the start American woman to captain a "mega" cruise ship when she took command of Glory Cruises' Celebrity Summit in 2015. Her sphynx cat Bug Naked accompanies her onboard.[5] McCue will accept command of the new Flag ship, Celebrity Across, when it launches April 2022.

Planning [edit]

On four Dec 2014, Celebrity Cruises' parent company, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., appear that they had finalized an order with STX France for 2 new ships that would compose a new class of vessels for the Glory Cruises fleet.[6] Known under Projection Border, these ii new ships were planned to exist at 117,000 GT each, with a invitee capacity of 2,900 passengers.[six] Deliveries were planned for Fall 2018 and early 2020 for the 2 vessels, respectively.[vi] Each ship is reported to come at a cost of $1 billion.[7]

Construction [edit]

Celebrity Cruises marked the inauguration of construction for the first new Border form vessel with the steel-cutting ceremony on 21 November 2016 at the STX France shipyard.[viii] [9] On the same day, Celebrity Cruises appear the name of the start newbuild as Glory Edge, and her sister send equally Glory Beyond,[viii] [nine] which was after changed to Glory Apex in July 2018.[10]
